Artistic Director Bids Island
'Fairwell for Now'...
Sept. 2007- After six very successful years on the island, Ms. Cunningham has decided to temporarily shut the doors of the year-round MVDT program to pursue new, exciting career opportunities in both FL and NYC. However, she will remain available to speak with and offer guidance to all of the dancers that she has worked with over the years as well as those who are just looking for some information. Says Ms. Cunningham, "At this time I would like to thank the island community for embracing our program and for all of your support over the years. We will leave this site up so that you don't forget about us... as we hope to someday make our way back to your beautfiful shores!"

In June of 2006, MVDT was proud to announce it's first ever graduates of the pre-professional training program. It was a bitter sweet day for artistic director, Lori E. Cunningham.
Not only did the dancers appear in company works, but, they also performed a duet choreographed by Abbey Stone. "Only one year older, they are wiser and even more lovely to watch. These young women have a very bright performing future ahead of them, if they so choose!"
The main objective of the MVDT training program is to provide students with the skills and experiences required to competitively enter the professional dance arena. Cunningham was particularly pleased when the MVDTA decided to offer both women a performance contract for the program's annual Spring Gala- TRANSITIONS 2007. Says Cunningham, "We've come full circle. Our program has acheived what it has set out to do."
